See What’s in the SceneBehind the Black Doors
Wicked Narcissism Eugenia Perrin-Frost was released by Integrity Toys in 2020, and her original black lace look already seemed to belong to a character with secrets of her own. For this doll photography story, I imagined Eugenia as Witch Obsidian: elegant, self-possessed and waiting behind a pair of black doors for anyone brave enough to ask about the future.
She is the only Integrity Toys doll in my collection whose original look I never want to change. I usually love restyling my dolls, but Eugenia feels entirely herself exactly as she came – and that is exceedingly rare for me.
The Crystal Knows
The crystal ball became the main feature of this scene. I chose the name Obsidian after the black volcanic stone, which immediately came to mind when I saw Eugenia’s all-black look – from her lace outfit to her black lipstick. The spellbook, dark furniture and small table complete the character and transform the scene into a witch’s room in 1:6 scale.
The crystal may reveal what was, what is or what waits ahead. It does not promise that you will like the answer.
The Cards Are Dealt
The fortune-telling cards bring a quieter tension to the photoset. Rather than showing a theatrical spell, these photographs focus on the pause before an answer: Obsidian arranging the cards, considering what they reveal and deciding how much to share. Close views of the doll’s hands and the miniature accessories help the scene feel intimate, as though the reading is meant for one visitor only.
A Room of Her Own
I built the room around Eugenia’s black outfit, keeping the palette dark and adding small details that make the setting feel inhabited. The doors, shelving unit, table and chair are based on my own 3D models and were printed for this scene. Miniature plants, dried flowers, stacked objects and a tiny goldfish tank give Witch Obsidian a personal space beyond the crystal ball and cards.
